I guess this is the season when all things must die, where sadness and beauty will collide. The autumn leaves fall And the embers will rise Reborn in the stillness of the night. The light danced off the water Like a city of forgotten words Cascading beneath the surface Or merely drowning in this earth
And there was a bird, with feathers bright and red as blood, at least that's what you saw. I saw an angel, on the whitest November's morning.
Written by: Lou Barlow Originally appears on the Sebadoh album "Bubble and Scrape" Go buy that album. Lou also plays bass in Dinosaur Jr. Go buy their album "Bug"
From a Tower 03:15
Written by: Phil Spector Originally recorded by the Paris Sisters Phil Spector is a genius. He recorded so many amazing albums... the Ronettes, John Lennon, George Harrison, Ramones... etc. Brian Wilson idolized Phil Spector and his "Wall of Sound" production which was fairly evident on the Beach Boys album "Pet Sounds" Also if you aren't familiar with the story of Phil waving a gun at Dee Dee Ramone during the recording sessions for "End of the Century" you should do yourself a favor and go look it up. Ha. You're in for a treat! Or there's always this... Ha.
Slow Drone 03:17
Dear Leader 01:42
Tonight the city belongs to us Cold weeping gray and silent Deserted beauty untouched By the sun The golden rays fill the cracks in the pavement Your eyes poison the well of my heart Let the predawn light set these autumn leaves afire Illuminate the smokestacks, This rusted creaking bridge, And these penny plated spires. Goodnight to the sad and lonely liars. These secret names, Full of loveless and warmth at the same time. Our shadows dream on this old carousel There's sand in our eyes And a kiss that forever remains Under the beams of this decayed blacked beams of this pier.
